Venturi Scrubbers

Venturi Scrubbers are used primarily for particulate (size>1µ) removal. The venturi throat is then designed to provide the proper gas acceleration and liquid droplet shearing to ensure adequate contact between the particulate and recycle liquid for impingement. The new larger particle/droplet then is separated from the gas streams by gravitational forces and impingement on an entrainment separator installed downstream of the venturi. Throat pressure drop is a function of particle size. The smaller the particle to be removed, the smaller the throat and the higher the pressure drop. Venturis are also capable of achieving moderate gas absorption for soluble/reactive gases.

Verantis offers a complete line of venturi scrubbers for a broad range of applications. These systems are relatively inexpensive and can achieve high removal efficiencies.

Fixed Throat Venturi - Model VSV

Employed for exhaust streams containing particles having a defined size distribution.

Adjustable-Throat Venturi - Model VTV

Similar to the fixed-throat except that the throat size and pressure drop can be adjusted by means of a movable internal bullet.

Eductor Venturi - Model EVS

Eductor venturis are different than standard venturis in that they utilize higher pressure liquid flow to create or induce the gas flow into the scrubber. They

Rod Throat Venturi - Model MTV

The rod or multi-throat venturi is suitable for high loadings of coarse particulate. The throat design utilizes a series of parallel rods or pipes to increase gas and liquid velocity for impingement of particulate.
